Infrared Grill

March 22nd, 2011 No comments

An infrared grill is one of the best and most convenient types of grills you can have for the home both inside and outside. Cooking barbecue at the yard or garden is a tradition practice by families at their homes. In more commercial places (example: tourist spots), barbecue grills can be found being used by small food businesses selling barbecue and other forms of grilled delicacies to paying consumers.

While barbecue grills are popular, some of them use charcoal while others use gas for cooking and to this day the debate rages on as to which of them is the best method to use. In recent times, the popularity of the infrared grill showed signs of growth as well as increased use by cooks. Some consider the grill as the next big thing when it comes to cooking barbecue efficiently and properly. Since the patents of the infrared grill expired over a decade ago, business companies began manufacturing and selling them in greater numbers.

How does the grill work? It works with the ignition of propane or natural gas, and this leads to substantially heating up the ceramic tile. This leads to the generation of infrared radiation that gets used to cook the food in a uniform manner. With heat that can go beyond 500 degrees Celsius (or 900 degrees Fahrenheit), the amount of time required to cook food gets reduced dramatically. The advantages include lesser drying of food, lesser pre-heat time needed, improved energy efficiency on the part of the user, improved tastes of food when compared to those being cooked on other grills, and overall improved convenience.

There are a few disadvantages however. The infrared grill is rather difficult to move around due to its bulky design. Burning of food is more likely to happen due to the increased levels of heat and this alone could lead to wastes and possible harm. Also notable is the lack of an option for low temperature control and this makes the grill undesirable for cooking fish or vegetables.

Finally, the grill is still very expensive when compared to other grills due to its relatively new technology used. Before buying this particular grill, it is always best to do some intense research on it online as well as talking to people who used the grill (or at least ate food that were cooked with infrared radiation). As of today, the most common buyers of the infrared grill are the professional cooks or chefs or those who simply have enough money for it. Cooking barbecue faster and enjoying its improved taste is nice but it remains to be seen how the infrared grill impacts people be it positively or negatively.

how can i make my gas grill cook like a charcoal?

we just bought a gas grill because finding a "nice" charcoal grill became a problem. Is there anything that we could use to make it taste like a charcoal grill without fully converting it. We have heat distribution plates shaped like triangles by the way.
