Gas grills are great when your at HOME. I am telling you there is nothing better and easier than to push a button and swish instant grilling, And heat adjusting and your ready to COOK and not to mention cleaner than coal. Now I can understand if your at a park or picnic HEY lets charcoal and have a BBQ. Now lets cover the ribs the best best way I cook ribs is I’LL give away my recipe is wash and clean your ribs in cold running try and peel the back like paper film skin and then pat dry use your dry rub you might have in the cabinet like garlic powder, black pepper paprika not to much salt very little apple cider vinegar, Italian dressing other season you might have but you don’t have to over do it because the last thing you;ll put on when ribs are done is your favor BBQ sauce now this is almost fool proof. buy the size aluminin pan to fit your ribs, you might need two depend how much you want to cook put all of the ingredients above in the pan. mins. the BBQ sauce cover tighly with alunminin paper cook in your Oven at about 300 degree for about two HOURS or more check for tenderness NOW IF TOO HOT IN THE HOUSE of coruse do the same direction on the grill just put on lowest setting but make sure there is enough liquid in the pan when ribs are done tranfer then on the grill start puting your favor sauce close grill put on medium to low till sauce looks carmelize and WAL-LA you got them falling OFF the bone Now if you want SMOKE , but some hickory wood chips soak in water 15 min. wrap in aluinm. foil place on top of grill grate but anyway what do I know about COOKING I am only the OLD GIZZARD.

Because a gas-grill tends to cook to hot and quick…

I always par-boil my ribs (and chicken)… that way you can put them on the grill to get a little char and finish with sauce without burning everything.

Let’s get this straight right away. Barbeque is meat slow cooked over a wood or charcoal fire. No other definition is correct or even remotely acceptable. If there is no wood smoke, it is not barbeque.
Barbecue is not boiled meat with a red sauce. Grilling is not barbecue. Grilling is cooking over direct intense heat, wood or gas or even electric.(may God forgive me for even mentioning electric cooking) Great for steaks, not for barbecue.
Please rephrase your question. You may ask how to cook ribs on a gas grill, but leave out any reference to barbeque.
